Shade is the Cait Sidhe Queen of Cats in the East Bay Court of Golden Cats which encompasses the city of Berkeley, including the university campus, and overlaps with the County of Tamed Lightning.
About[]
Shade's cat form is a blue-point Siamese cat. Her bipedal form is short and willowy, with a strong Taiwanese accent and blazingly-blue eyes with cat-slit pupils, and snowy skin which darkens to blue-grey at the points, with black hair which fades to white at the ends.
She is presumed the successor to Barbara Lynch, the former Queen of Cats.

Tybalt and October Daye catapult injured into Shade's territory, fleeing an assassination attempt by Samson and chasing down Chelsea Ames. While Cait Sidhe law forbids her from interfereing directly with a succession battle, Shade and her subjects keep watch so Tybalt and Toby have time to recover from the attack.
Night and Silence[]
Both Shade and Arden appear when Toby discovers Janet Carter's safehouse during her search for Gillian. Shade is aware of the safehouse's true nature, though only Arden is aware that it exists and is forbidden to be trespassed on.
When Toby confronts Shade about Tybalt's knowledge of the place, Shade confirms that he has no idea, however inquires on Tybalt's recovery.

Shade and Tybalt are neighboring Cait Sidhe monarchs. Tybalt calls her "my opposite number," indicating a balanced working relationship. They are not permitted to interfere with each other's Court politics, however Shade shows concern for Tybalt after his ordeal with Amandine.
